Posted by : deepshika | On : July 27, 2023This course focuses on equipping assistants with the necessary skills and strategies to foster student autonomy while gradually reducing the level of support provided. Participants in this course will develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices that contribute to student independence in a classroom setting. The course objectives include learning how to promote self-directed learning strategies, improve metacognition and gives a framework of how to withdraw support and scaffolding. Through a combination of practical exercises, examples, and reflective activities, participants will gain the tools and knowledge to effectively support students in their journey towards becoming independent learners. By the end of the course, classroom assistants will be empowered to facilitate students’ self-reliance, allowing them to thrive in their educational pursuits while providing the appropriate level of guidance and assistance.

- Understand what student independence is and why it is important.
- Explore a framework and strategies to follow to enable students to become independent learners.
- Reflect on how you have implemented this in your practice and how you plan to develop further.
