Participants will explore strategies to develop phonological awareness and examine the foundation of early literacy through a review of research-based principles for explicit and effective teaching of fluency. Participants will explore strategies to develop reading fluency.
Course objectives
- Provide an overview of the reading process.
- Understand the importance of phonics awareness and fluency in teaching reading.
- Explore strategies to develop phonics awareness and fluency skills.
- Explore assessment and intervention strategies to develop fluency skills.
- Reflect on your own practice and think of the main strategies to be used throughout the lesson.
