Posted by : deepshika | On : May 25, 2021This course will support aspiring mentors with developing the skills, knowledge and experience required to provide effective, purposeful support for newly qualified teachers as well as those who are looking to refine their teaching practice.
Course objectives
- The traits, roles, and responsibilities of a Mentor.
- The expectations of a Mentor, focusing in on informal and formal monitoring and feedback.
- Managing different behaviour traits.
- The professional knowledge central to the role of a Mentor related to Noel Burch’s ‘Conscious Competence Matrix’.
- Exploring the UAE Teacher Standards and suitable evidence samples to assess if a practitioner is making satisfactory progress against the relevant teacher standards.
- Working in triads to apply the required knowledge and competencies of a Mentor to a variety of role-play scenarios.
Target Audience
This course is for experienced practitioners who will take on the role of a mentor within their current setting.

How the course is assessed: Attendance to the session and completion of the evaluation and reflection is mandatory to complete the course and receive a certificate of attendance.
Prerequisites: This course is designed for experienced practitioners who will work in a mentor capacity within their setting.
