Participants will explore the stages of backward planning, the six facets of understanding, and performance tasks based on GRASPS, all of which contribute to promoting effective learning. Attendees will actively participate in planning units of study using the backward planning approach, thereby enhancing their understanding of the sequential steps involved in backward planning. This course provides a framework for effective teaching and learning by facilitating progress through the backward design process.
Course objectives
- Clarify the concept of backward planning and its significance in addressing the common pitfalls of conventional educational planning.
- Explore the stages of backward planning, the six facets of understanding, and the implementation of performance tasks using the GRASPS framework, emphasizing their impact on facilitating effective learning.
- Provide hands-on experience in planning units of study using the backward planning approach, ensuring practical application of the acquired knowledge.
