Critical Thinking
Posted by : admin | On : September 29, 2021This course will explore the meaning of ‘critical thinking’ in the context of a vibrant classroom community using the research of Russell Grigg and Helen Lewis from the book, ‘Teaching Creative and Critical Thinking in Schools’. Participants will be taken through the 9 traits of critical thinking as explored by ‘Mentoring Minds’ and apply this to a series of activities that highlight how effective critical thinking can be integrated into the daily learning opportunities we provide for our students. A series of thinking skills strategies will be explored to demonstrate how critical thinking can be integrated and evidenced. Participants will explore the BLOOMS model and how this can be utilized to support and nurture a culture of questioning and inquiry. In the final part of this course, the strategies, research, and materials explored will be implemented in subject specific scenarios to demonstrate how critical thinking can be incorporated across the curriculum.
