Understanding & Supporting the ELL Learner
Posted by : admin | On : May 25, 2021In this course, participants will explore the Cummins, BICS & CALP model as well as completing tasks that serve to provide a better understanding of the ELL learner; this will be explored in the context of the UAE classroom. Participants will be given a chance to explore a wide range of language learning strategies and resources to aid differentiation and effective scaffolding for the ELL learner. This session has been contextualised using resources and strategies that support both face-to-face and online learning.

- To understand the processes of an ELL learner.
- To explore a variety of useful strategies and resources to support the ELL learner.
- To create an overview of strategies and resources for implementation.

How the course is assessed: Attendance and completion of the evaluation and feedback form. A series of follow-up implementation activities can be shared with school leaders to support ongoing application of strategies and resources explored as part of the session.
Prerequisites: This course is suitable for any practitioner who works within an ELL context.
