As a department head I have had the opportunity to receive continuous professional training provided by Aldar Training Academy at academic, educational and leadership levels. Through these workshops, I was able to move forward on the right path and adapt to the developments and changes that occurred in the field of education, so that this positively affected the management of the Arabic language department in our school, the performance of Arabic language teachers, and finally the academic and personal progress of our students. There were many training workshops that we attended by the training team, as there were workshops on pedagogy of teaching the Arabic language and others on best practices in teaching and learning. Additionally, I attended workshops promoting the use of technology in education with the move to distance and hybrid learning.
These training workshops have contributed to improving our school and classroom communities whereby staff have implemented best teaching practices. The courses supported us in equipping our teachers with the skills needed to develop innovative lessons that enhance teaching and learning with educational technologies, and finally, supporting teachers in narrowing the gap between educational theory and classroom practice.
I also joined the Becoming a Trainer (BAT) workshop, which highlighted the importance of professionally writing training workshops, and explained how to develop and present them to teachers. It supported me with writing clear and measurable learning results linked to interactive and collaborative tasks to address different learning styles, according to strategies that enhance participation and interaction.
Finally, I had an opportunity to be one of the mentors in the teacher training programme, which is a professional programme specialised in building the capacities of educational counsellors and developing the skills of trainee teachers. This experience had a clear impact on refining and consolidating my professional experience in providing support to trainee teachers.
