National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)

In partnership with Best Practice Network, ATA are pleased to offer the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). This qualification supports the professional development of aspiring principals.

During the course, you will cover the following 6 content areas:

  • strategy and improvement
  • teaching and curriculum excellence
  • leading with impact
  • working in partnership
  • managing resources and risks
  • increasing capability

In addition to the above, you will also cover 7 leadership behaviours:

  • commitment
  • collaboration
  • personal drive
  • resilience
  • awareness
  • integrity
  • respect

The NPQH also requires you to undertake a placement at a school, in a different context from your own, for a minimum of 9 days.

At the end of the course, you will complete a final assessment that will evaluate the development of your knowledge and understanding against the 6 content areas mentioned above.

Who is suitable?:

Staff should be ready to take on principalship of their own school within 18 months.

When does it start?

Term 1 of the Academic Year.

How do I register?:

Registration must be completed by School Principals or CPD leads through Microsoft Forms. This course is invitation only.
