An Introduction to Writing Workshop for Arabic teachers who teach from KG to grade 6. Teaching writing is an important component of a comprehensive literacy programme. In this course, Trainees will discuss the stages of the writing process i.e., planning, drafting, revising, and editing. Ideas to inspire students’ writing across different areas will be explored. Trainees will reflect on and evaluate their own writing instruction and determine areas where improvement can be made. Trainees will develop strategies for helping students succeed during every phase of writing, including prewriting, actual writing time, sharing and feedback. In addition, Trainees will learn how to avoid common pitfalls that take away from students’ agency in their writing such as correcting students’ errors too quickly, telling them what their piece needs (rather than helping them discover it), and taking up too much time with direct instruction.
