School self-evaluation is a process by which members of staff in a school reflect on their practice and identify areas for action to stimulate improvement. This course will provide Middle Leaders with the opportunity effectively evaluate their school’s performance and provide the tools to identify next steps improvements. During the module participants will be exposed to strategic development techniques, supported to apply the course content to their current context and develop new methods of evaluation that they will be able to implement in the short term and long term into their practice.
Course objectives
- Be able to explain what self-evaluation is
- Be able to identify a range of self-evaluation techniques and develop your own tools to support this
- Be able to identify the skills required to write a SEF, implement this into your own practice and use a range of evidence available to you to make an accurate and informed judgement
- Be confident to engage in factual and evaluative discussions with internal and external assessors regarding your area of responsibility and the capacity for improvement.
Target Audience: Middle Leaders
Certification: Tier 4 Middle Leadership Certificate of Professional Development with transcript will be awarded to participants upon completion.
How the course is assessed: Participants will complete a Blog/discussion piece advising a first-time school leader based on lessons learnt from the task.
Prerequisites: Participants should already be enrolled on the ATA Middle Leadership Programme
